We have a Skillbridge internship in Bellevue, Tacoma, Seattle or Everett where you can learn how to be a Construction Manager. This internship is ~90-120 days [we have flexibility on internship duration] and previous experience or knowledge are not necessary.
As a Construction Manager, you will serve as the owner’s representative, often managing a team of professionals to monitor and oversee field work performed by contractors and specialty subcontractors for our clients.
What You’ll Do
- Pre-construction roles including constructability reviews, estimating, and schedule reviews
- Manage contractor conformance to plans and specifications during construction
- Conduct contract administration functions on multiple simultaneous projects
- Proactive in identifying project delivery issues and works to resolve those issues
- Will act as the lead and supervisor for other construction engineers and inspectors
Who You Are
- Self-starter, leadership abilities and mentoring aptitude
- Basic computer skills in Word and Excel
- Ability to effectively work independently as well as with client representatives, contractors and peers
- Ability to effectively multitask, prioritize and track construction through completion
- Clean driving record
- A major plus for any of the following
- Heavy construction experience with Highways, Bridges, Paving, and Utilities
- Knowledge of WSDOT Specifications and Construction Manual
- WSDOT contract administration experience
- WA Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within one year

• Monitor progress of construction work on roadway, highway, and bridge structure projects
• Inspect, document and verify project is constructed in conformance with contract plans and specifications
• Maintain accurate inspector daily records of the work
• Communicate with contractors, owners, construction managers and other stakeholders
• Prepare field note records for construction progress payments

This position will provide on-site construction inspection and documentation for transportation projects, including observation of construction activities for compliance with plans and specifications, preparation of required contract documentation, and following prescribed Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures, as well as providing assistance and support for design projects.
What You’ll Do
- Inspect, observe and document project is constructed in accordance with contract documents
- Maintain accurate daily record of the work (labor, equipment, materials, and quantities)
- Communicate with the Construction Manager, Project Engineer, or other field engineering staff
- Assist in developing design projects for construction
- Calculate quantities and produce sketches in excel, CADD, or by hand
Who You Are
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently with clients, contractors, the public as well as peers
- Effectively multitask and prioritize and track construction issues through to completion
- Proficiency in basic math as well as basic computer
- Ability to obtain ODOT inspector certifications within 12 months by taking training classes
- Adept at communicating, both written and verbally
- Eager to learn with a strong work ethic and accountability
- Not required, but a plus for experience with construction or inspection/QA/QC in any field

Are you an outdoorsy-type who loves to solve problems?
We have multiple internships available for you to learn Land Surveying. This internship is ~90-120 days [we have some flexibility here] and there is no previous knowledge necessary.
Surveying offers a balance between working outdoors and working with technology, which includes GPS, robotic total stations, drones, and laser scanners. The field work is complementary to office survey technology involving CAD and GIS based mapping.
What You’ll Do
- Reduce survey data, performing calculations, copying and filing of survey data
- Work as a member of a survey crew performing boundary, topography, ALTA, right of way, and construction surveys
- Operation and maintenance of survey equipment, taking field notes, data collection and performing calculations
Who You Are
- Someone who enjoys being outdoors
- Ability to walk and work on varying and unfinished terrain
- Strong work ethic and accountability
