Good Shepherd Health Care System

Field Service Technician

The Field Technician position will operate independently from CTI’s main office, traveling to customers’ locations for start-up, calibration, light installation, and/or repair a variety of gas detection systems. The Field Technician will also be responsible for training plant personnel on how to use the gas detection systems as well as write reports for PSM documentation.

Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Calibrate, trouble shoot and repair, gas detection systems and sensors.
  • Translate system operation scope and user functions of gas detection systems and sensors to plant personnel.
  • Write reports for safety documentation to meet OSHA standards.
  • Contact manufacturers and/or distributors of equipment to effectively and properly maintain/calibrate leak detection equipment and associated components.
  • Determine best long-term method for repair. Translate solutions using CTI products when possible.

Boiler Technician

Boiler technicians are responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing boilers in industrial or commercial settings. They commonly work with large equipment that produces hot water or steam. Many food processing facilities use steam to extract juices or peel and cook foods. Hospitals use steam boilers to sterilize equipment and heat their facilities. Although it is not as common some facilities use boilers to generate power for their buildings.

For Boiler technicians it is beneficial have a strong understanding of mechanical systems as well as the ability to read schematics and diagrams. They also need to be able to troubleshoot problems when they arise and make quick decisions about how best to resolve them.

Boiler Technician Skills

Boiler technicians need the following skills in order to be successful:

Technical skills: Boiler technicians use technical skills to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and other technical documents. They also use technical skills to troubleshoot and repair boilers and other equipment. Technical skills are also important for learning new skills and advancing in the field.

Communication skills: Boiler technicians communicate with many people throughout the day, including other technicians, engineers, managers and clients. Effective communication skills can help you to convey information clearly and to understand the needs of others. You can use your communication skills to write technical reports, to explain technical processes to clients and to collaborate with other technicians to solve problems.

Problem-solving skills: Boiler technicians use their problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues with equipment. They use their problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and repair boilers and other equipment. They also use their problem-solving skills to identify and address potential safety hazards.

Mechanical aptitude: Boiler technicians use their aptitude for mechanical systems to troubleshoot and repair boilers and other equipment. They also use their aptitude for mathematics to calculate measurements and determine the amount of fuel needed for a boiler.

Attention to detail: Boiler technicians must have excellent attention to detail to ensure they are following the proper procedures for their job. Attention to detail can also help them identify potential problems with equipment and prevent accidents. Attention to detail can also help them identify the source of a problem and find the best solution.
